Electronic Cigarettes (E cigarettes)
What are electronic cigarettes (also known as e-cigs), and what advantages do they offer traditional tobacco cigarettes? One advantage is that they allow a person to “smoke” where they want, without smoke and odor. With the rising cost of smoking, electronic cigarettes can save you money. In addition to their other advantages, they are also thought to be much less harmful than tobacco.
Typically, an e-cigarette is composed of an atomizer, a spokesman (or cartridge), and a battery. The battery provides power to the atomizer, which sprays the mixture contained in the voice. The mixture used varies by manufacturer, but it generally contains a base (typically propylene glycol), which transports the nicotine and flavor after being sprayed. The models vary with automatic models to detect automatically when the user pulls the air through the device and trigger sprays. There are also models that require manual user to press a button to activate the atomizer.
Because e-cigarettes do not burn tobacco (or anything else for that matter), a lighter and ashtray are no longer needed. And, because a single cartridge contains the equivalent of several cigarettes, it is much more compact than a pack of cigarettes.
Because e-cigarettes produce steam (not smoke), they are not restricted to heavy smokers. For this reason, they can be enjoyed in bars / restaurants, airports, and many places where smoking is restricted or prohibited. Moreover, the steam they produce is odorless and does not stain fabrics or surfaces. This allows a smoker to accommodate non-smoking friends and relatives.
Some people insist that e-cigarettes are too expensive, and while they are (usually) require a modest initial investment, overall they are much cheaper than conventional cigarettes. Most manufacturers make their cartridges so they can be filled, and the filling solution (also called e-liquid) is generally inexpensive. By most estimates, a 10ml bottle is equal to one carton of cigarettes at a fraction of the cost.
Most chemicals produced by conventional (tobacco) cigarettes are the result of combustion (burning). Since e-cigarettes do not burn, these foreigners (and dangerous) chemicals are not produced. For this reason, the American Association of Physicians of Public Health found that they are much less dangerous than tobacco cigarettes.
The vast majority of e-cigarette manufacturers use propylene glycol as a base for transport of nicotine and flavorings in a vapor. Propylene glycol is used in foods for years, and is approved by the FDA (although e-cigarettes themselves are not). In addition, propylene glycol has been shown to protect against several respiratory problems, including bronchitis, pneumonia and even the flu.
Despite the appeal of a safer alternative to cigarettes, e cigarette, you still nicotine, a substance that is harmful and addictive. For this reason, they should not be used by minors, and are not effective for those trying to quit smoking.
With the potential savings money, and low impact on your health, electronic cigarettes offer an excellent alternative to cigarettes. With increasing restrictions on smoking e-cigarettes allow you to enjoy a cigarette anywhere.
